Alpi Carniche

Protection of nature.

Carnia mountains have a still wild and ancestral charm with a severe, often harsh, landscape, but nonetheless with beautiful woods and sunny fields.

The ridge of the mountain range that surrounds Friuli Venezia Giulia descends to the valley and towards the river Tagliamento in parallel valleys that are at times narrow and steep, known as "Channels".

There are still many areas on these mountains where the arrival of man did not alter nature and where the ecosystem of plants, flowers and animals resists: indeed, in these areas, compared to more Western Alps, the altitude of plants typical of the alpine flora lowers, reaching the lower limits of the Alps: the Edelweiss, for example, can be found in Friuli at just 750 meters!
